4 Beach Bag Essentials For Preserving Healthy Hair
1. Fresh Water Spritzer.
LA people L-O-V-E, love, the beach and their commitment to being beautiful is unrelenting. One of my favorite tips for both pool and ocean loving water-babies is to wet hair with fresh or tap water before swimming. This prevents chlorine and salt water from penetrating the cuticle and leaving hair dried out and brittle. If you’re planning to spend the entire day in Neptune’s realm, carry a spray bottle filled with fresh water for re-wetting hair every couple of hours.
2. Spray-On Sunscreen.
Protect your hair and scalp just as you would the rest of your skin. Cover your part and lightly mist your hair with a clear, spray-on sunscreen before heading outside. This not only prevents the pain and peeling of sunburned skin, but also keeps hair color from fading.
3. Hair Ties.
Elastic hair ties (aka, cloth covered rubber bands) are a necessity for pulling hair back into chic buns and twists, just make sure to leave at least an inch at the end to prevent breakage.
4. Wide-Brimmed, Floppy Hat.
The wide-brimmed hats, occasionally referred to as floppy, have made a much appreciated comeback this summer. This classic Hollywood glam and southern belle favorite has replaced the straw fedoras and cowboy hats of recent years. Oh, and just in case you’re wondering, ladies, leave the baseball caps and bucket hats for the fellas.
